Position Overview
We are now seeking an Actuary to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in the expansion of the company’s actuarial department.  

The Actuary will report directly to the Chief Actuarial Officer and contribute to a range of business decisions based on actuarial analysis and forecasting to maximize profit and growth. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of P&C actuarial experience with a focus on property lines, hold the ACAS designation, and have experience programming in Python.

Responsibilities
  • Ongoing analyses of rates and results, primarily focused on our Commercial Property line of business.
  • Pricing and reserving for Commercial Property.  
  • Rate change monitoring.
  • Programming to automate actuarial and data-related tasks.
  • Data-sharing with executive team and staff underwriters.
  • Work cross-functionally to aid in the development of internal tools and products. 
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from product line and executive leaders.   
  • Other actuarial work as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, data science, statistics, or related subjects.
  • 3+ years of relevant actuarial experience.
  • Prior actuarial experience supporting property lines required.
  • ACAS designation or very close to obtaining ACAS.
  • Proven programming experience with Python, R, Java, or C (Python preferred).
  • Property & casualty experience required. Excess & surplus lines experience is a plus.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent analytical ability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation:
At the time of posting, the expected base salary range for this role is $110,000-$140,000 annually. Additionally, this position is eligible for participation in our annual bonus program. Actual compensation will be determined by many factors, including but not limited to, location, education, certifications, qualifications, relevant experience, internal equity, business need, and any applicable minimum wage requirements.
